Promotion and commercialization are the two key words that rule each and every section of work. From products to services a well defined promotion is very much needed to cope up and survive in marketing world. Days have turned for online advertisement that is a form of promotion that uses internet and World Wide Web to deliver marketing messages to attract customers.
The internet has become an ongoing emerging source that tends to expand more and more. The growth of this particular media attracts the attention of advertisers as a more productive source to bring in customer. In its common use, online advertising comprises all sorts of banner advertisements, email advertising, in game advertising, and keyword advertising, on platforms such as social networking sites of Face book, Twitter or My Space have received increased relevance.
Research has shown that online advertising has given results and is growing business revenue. One major benefit of online advertising is the immediate publishing of information and content that is not limited by geography or time. Another benefit is of the efficiency of advertiser’s investment. It allows customization of advertisements, including content and posted websites.
Several types of online ads:
1) Floating Ad- An ad which moves across the users screen or floats above the content.
2) Expanding Ad- An ad which changes size and which may alter the contents of web page.
3) Polite Ad- A method by which a large ad will be downloaded in smaller pieces to minimize the disruption of the content being viewed.
4) Wallpaper Ad- An ad which changes the back ground of the page being viewed.
5) Trick banner – A banner that looks like a dialogue box with buttons. It stimulates an error message or alert.
6) Video Ad- Similar to a banner ad, except that the window is loaded or sent behind the current window so that the user does not see it until they close one or more active windows.
There are other ads like Superstitial, Interstitial, Pop Under and Pop-Up, Mobile ad’s, Map Ad etc that falls under online ads. Internet ads are by far the most powerful medium of commercialization in today’s world.
